Greetings in Jesus Name!
I have been following Westboro Baptist for quite some time and recently noticed on your preaching schedule that you are coming to Kailua Kona. I am not surprised that you are coming here but a little confused by the locations that you have chosen to preach at. I understand the Methodist church and the catholic church but Grace Community Church and Mokuaikaua Church both preach “repentance” and “turning from sin”. I don’t attend either of those churches but have partnered alongside some of them picketing the “drag queen family fashion show” at Spinluvplay, help shut down Kona Planned Parenthood and petitioned on the street against sex trafficing. If you are preaching against the church in Kona, there are other (so called) churches that do not fear God. If you are preaching against the sin of the city, why not preach on the highway where sin abounds?
I’m not sure what your motive is regarding those two churches but it seems like friendly fire to me.
Glory and honor to the King of kings alone
Dear Curious Individual:
As one of the people coming to Kailua Kona in October and who helped select the locations for our public preaching, your message was forwarded to me for response. Please take these words in the spirit in which they are intended, to answer your question and not to be contentious.
Understand that we explore options when we travel to a location and put care into our selections. Frankly, there are more places available to us than we have time to spend preaching at, so we limit where we go, looking to redeem the time as we can. We certainly would entertain “on the ground intel” as it were for other locations (and encourage your own preaching if you have such intel), but this was not done capriciously or without care.
It is important to be clear in our thinking on what is or is not a church. The social clubs of this nation claiming to follow Christ and believe His word are frauds, to cut to the chase. They are not churches. You rightly point out the Methodists and Catholics, but apparently don’t see that Grace Community is a part of the lying progressive Evangelical Free Church of America,
- which pushes female ministers but tries to sit on the fence with their “credentialing” of “female vocational ministers” (a totally unscriptural man-made silliness) instead of suffering “not a woman to teach” (1Ti 2:12);
- tries desperately to sit on the fence regarding Arminianism vs Bible teaching on predestination and election (we do not follow Calvin in this regard, we follow the Bible) claiming both to be true, which cannot be;
- tries to straddle the wide wall of clear doctrine regarding infant and adult baptism claiming both are just fine;
- pushes the notion that there is such a thing as a “gay Christian” with their “welcoming but non-affirming” doctrine spawned in the pit of hell, and doesn’t make their yea, yea or their nay, nay,
etc., etc. – I could go on. If you are going to join your body to this heretical “association”, you endanger your soul and the only conclusion can be that this is not a church of Christ. They embody this scripture well:
“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” (Mat 15:8)
You can stand outside abortion clinics and picket drag shows, but that doesn’t make you a Christian. Following Christ makes you a Christian, and you show that with obedience to His whole word. Catholics claim to shut down abortion clinics and sometimes (when they aren’t defending pedophiles in court) speak outside drag shows, too, and they’re about as Christian as Balaam’s ass, who said right things on occasion.
As to Mokuaikaua, the first sign of danger in their public profession comes from their quotation of the so-called “Apostles’ Creed” as their ONLY statement of belief.
Who, claiming to follow Christ doesn’t just use Christ’s words to declare their faith and belief in Him, and instead chooses to quote a trite and rote Catholic mantra? One of the jobs the believers of Christ has is to come out and be separate. This is diametrically opposed to choosing to intermingle with the whorish mantras and ritualism of chocolate-covered Judaism, ie, the catholic whorehouse. I would also argue they are too steeped in some prideful worship of their history and some silly building. They could have used those pages on their website to make strong doctrinal statements and do some preaching! Redeem the time! Look forward, not back. Always forward, striving to enter in at the strait gate, not leisurely strolling along the wide way that is applauded and adored by men, giving tours of your church building trying to appeal to nostalgia. Christ gives less than half of half of a hoot about that goofy building or it being supposedly the “first Christian church” in Hawaii. Get over it. It seems unlikely to me that there has ever been a body of Christ meeting in that building, frankly.
Then you get into the prominent link on their home page asking people to give money, as though you can make merchandise of the Gospel and that treating the church as a business is an acceptable behavior for Christ’s followers. That is a bad sign and frankly, shameful.
The overall point here is to cause the folks going into these places to think, really think, about the disposition of their eternal soul. Are they drawing nigh unto Him with their lips and ignoring His word and what it calls us to do? The outward indicia are that at the last day they will be in this predicament:
“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Mat 7:22-23)
That’s a scary proposition. Our hope is that we reach some lamb of God who is unknowingly walking the path with Belial due to the humble preaching we do and they heed our warnings. Satan has done an amazing job of making a false Christianity appear to be the right thing in this nation, and it is incumbent upon Christ’s actual followers to make that plainly known and declare the requirement to come out and be separate. We hope to do so with our presence in Kailua Kona.
Hopefully that answers your question adequately.
