Dear Westboro Baptist Church:
I’m sorry. I should have listened to you. You were right. For years you warned us about what was happening in the world and what was going to happen in the world. We didn’t listen. Instead, we made fun of you and called you names and attacked you. Now what you said was going to happen is happening in our town. Can you come and help us or tell us how to deal with it?

Dear Frightened Friend:
We know you meant kindness when you wrote these words to us. We appreciate that kindness, but have to tell you solemnly and humbly that we do not get the credit for our words. They are the words plainly written in the Bible, and are available for every human being on the planet to read. We are very thankful that the Creator determined to show them to us and send us forth to the whole population of the earth with the ambassadorship of His merciful words of warning: Repent or perish. God “commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” (Acts 17:30-31). This is not a difficult message to understand, and it is not a difficult message to deliver. All men in every corner of this earth have one standard by which they are to live, so our job is to go into the world and preach that standard with a clear message that men repent of their rebellion against that standard.
Blessedly … nothing more and nothing less.
The dreadful truth is that the Bible also teaches that this generation will not repent. This generation is in all likelihood that generation that will bring an end to the New Testament Church dispensation and usher in the dispensation of the millennial reign of Christ. Few – very few – men will be granted any relief in that transition between the two dispensations. The Bible is just too clear on how that tiny number of saved souls will barely survive that transition, with billions being cast into hell and the remaining billions being wholly subjugated under the rod of iron wielded by the reigning Christ. Fluffy notions that possess this generation, about Christ’s reign being like that sodomite Mr. Roger’s neighborhood are simply untrue. There is no hope of some temporal salvation through some revival. Sodomy has settled into this generation the world over … so the only remedy will be conflagration.
The words of hope we have are very clear and very limited. Since there is a remnant according to the election of grace, we tell the humans of the earth to “save yourselves from this untoward generation.” (Acts 2:40) There will only be hope for those who are given eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand and repent and be converted. Those are the souls we seek, and at the time appointed by a sovereign God, those souls will come forth to redemption. We pray that God’s will be done, and if that includes the saving of you and your household, then God be praised. If you are a vain professor who will shrink back from God’s plain words of truth and perish in unrighteousness, then God be praised.
Thank you for writing.
