Good works won’t save you, but Jesus Christ said “go and sin no more!”
You asked “Who inhabits Hell?” Those who do not have faith in Jesus Christ are not given grace, and are not spared from the wrath of God. While Christ died for all, sadly not all will go to Heaven (predestination is clear evidence for this). I completely agree that only those who believe in God are worthy of his grace and reconciliation with Him.
However, from interviews I have seen about the WBC, it seems that you assert that grace can only be obtained through following doctrine perfectly. I say to you that if grace is obtained by works, then it is not grace at all. Did Jesus receive the grace of God? Of course not; he was perfect and sinless.
Grace by definition is receiving something one is not worthy of. Humans are children of the Devil; it is only through Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross that we may become reborn as children of God. To believe that we can be the cause for our own salvation through our good works both discredits the incredible act of Jesus’ crucifixion and attempts to elevate mankind to righteousness.
We are not saved by our righteousness, but by the righteousness of Jesus, which we can claim through faith. To think that we could ever achieve what Jesus achieved in his time as a mortal, to be without sin, is blasphemous in itself.
Thank you for your time. Please tell me anything from what I have outlined above which you find inaccurate or objectionable.
Hello again, Keemin –
It is amazing that your words sound so good. I’m thinking – what was the problem? Then, here come these killer words: “While Christ died for all…”
No!! Not all, many! If Christ died for you, you will go to heaven. Period.
“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
Read it again please and go with those plain words. “… to give his life a ransom for many.” NOT ALL!
“And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.” Acts 13:48
There is that MANY again. If Christ died for you, you WILL believe. You ARE ordained to eternal life and therefore, you WILL believe.
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6
The human has NO say in the call to salvation. But make no mistake – Christ died for ALL of the sins of A VERY SMALL REMNANT of mankind.
“Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.” Isaiah 1:9
“Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.” Romans 11:5
I am NOT saying you are saved because you say right words and serve God in truth … I AM saying that if you have saving faith, you will head down the path, and it will shine brighter as you go, and because God works in you to salvation – you WILL have words and works that confirm that work of grace from God, upon your heart.
“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” James 2:17-26
